Missouri and Starting Over
I realized that I have not done anything with this blog and am resolved to start blogging with more regularity. I would like to blame it on my travel schedule, but really it is just laziness on my part. I will work to do better. Today, I have finally arrived in Missouri, after a LONG day of flights and driving. I made a point of flying into Nashville, longer drive but cheaper airfare and a vintage store I have been wanting to visit - Venus and Mars. SO worth it! I bought a coat, a cardigan and two dresses. When I finally got to my destination, I realized that I did not bring my camera with me on this trip - I will have to take photos with my phone in the morning and post them. I cannot vouch for the quality of the photos, though in looking at my past photos, I am thinking that the problem lies in the execution, rather than the equipment. Must practice my photography skills or find a willing friend.

Vintage Shopping in Tulsa
The owner ofSilver Screen Vintage is supposed to be in tomorrow - I may go back as there were a bunch of things that had not been priced yet, including a jacket that I heart. I am tempted to go back to Cheap Thrills as well, just in case. I was amazed at how reasonable the vintage is in tulsa. Everything I bought woudl ahve been twice as much where I live.
Tulsa
This outfit: Dress - Target, shoes - Steve Madden. I am glad tha tI packed dresses as Tulsa is HOT.
What I have been wearing
It is much colder wher eI live than it was in Switzerland. All in all, I prefer the colder weather, though it was nice to have sunshine and heat for a few days. I got my hiar cut the afternoon before I left for holiday. It is far shorter than I have had it in a long time. takes some getting used to.
This outfit: jacket - Marc by Marc, skirt - Robert rodriguez, turtleneck - JCrew, shoes - Maxstudio.
Zurich, Switzerland
The last of our trip was spent in Zurich. I was surprised how much I liked Zurich - clean and pretty. All in all, Switzerland was wonderful. The weather was amazing, the scenery beautiful and the people friendly. I would definitely return, though I will have to save my pennies as it is expensive there.
Davos/Guarda, Switzerland
The middle of the trip was spent in Davos and hiking around Guarda. We stayed at the Sheraton in Davos - a lovely hotel with a use of the spa included with the room. It was so nice to relax in the wet and dry saunas and the whirlpool after a long day of walking through alpine meadows. The meadows were breathtaking and ther were ltos of cows wandering about. I love the cows - Swiss cows are FAR happier than their California counterparts.

The Beginning
My Grandfather was a character and apparently quite the clothes snob. My mother loves to tell stories about he always made sure that my Grandmother had stockings during WWII, even though they were not supposed to be available and how he bought my mother her first trouser suit, which was a big deal back in the day. He loved to make sure his wife and daughters were well dressed, even though they never had a lot of money. My mother's favorite story about my Grandfather is how he would cross the street rather than walk past C&A (a budget-type store chain in Europe) because he thought the clothign was so cheap.
Years later, my mother and I were visiting my Aunt when she decided that she wanted to go into Mervyn's (a now defunct budget-type store chain in the US). I stopped dead in my tracks in the parking lot and refused to go in, announcing that Mervyn's is "cheap and tacky." My Aunt turned to me and said "You are JUST like your Grandfather!"
Sadly, my Grandfather passed away long before I was born, but I clearly share his spirit. This blog is dedicated to my Grandfather and his love of beauty and well dressed women.
